International telecomms joint venture Global One has announced plans to offer Internet connectivity services to businesses worldwide, in partnership with Cisco Systems.
Global One, a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, and Sprint, is a member of Cisco's Powered Network Program, a scheme offered to service providers that use predominantly Cisco routers.
Internet service providers will be offered Global IP, a dedicated Internet access service providing speeds of up to 64Kbps. The other offering is Global Dial Access, a dial-up Internet, Intranet and Lan access service for remote workers.
Global One has several other new services planned including Web hosting, voice and fax-over-IP, and messaging services. Commercial trials of these services will be held in early 1999.
