Gene Amdahl, the father of the IBM 360 computer architecture, is the latest heavyweight to urge corporations to address the Year 2000 date change problem quickly.
"We have very little time - less than three years - to inspect and modify trillions of lines of computer code that support global economies," said Amdahl. "Decision makers must act now to avoid disaster."
Amdahl will enlarge on his views at two seminars on the issue in Dubai on 25-27 March.
