The Treasury website went offline within minutes of the end of Gordon Brown's speech. It was down for more than 45 minutes before bouncing back.A Treasury spokeswoman said: 'It was the sheer volume of people all logging on at once. The servers were still working but the upfront software could not cope with the load.'The Treasury has its own in-house web team who worked flat out to rectify the problem. The site can now be accessed via the green budget button on this website.
