Hirevolution.com, the Web service that links consumers to home improvement experts, has set up a mobile phone text messaging service to get jobs dealt with faster.
Leads generated via the Hirevolution.com website are sent directly to home improvement contractors using Short Message Service (SMS) text messaging for mobile phones. Contractors will get an outline job specification, and by auto-dial return on their mobile phone or email reply, they can get a full spec by paying a fee. They can then choose whether to accept.
"Mobility is key for home improvement specialists," explained Kim Rehfeld, director of hirevolution.com. "We have to work in a way that closely matches contractors, as most are on the move all the time. The consumer gets a rapid response to their enquiry from an approved professional."
According to Hirevolution.com the use of mobile phones by contractors far outweighs that of Internet usage. It claims that 74 per cent of home improvement contractor companies with 10 employees or less have mobile phones and only 44 per cent of this group have Internet access.
