UK network design software house Gomark plans to set up a technology centre in West Bengal in India.
The company has begun discussions with the region's Electronics Industry Development Corporation. According to Nandan Bhattacharya, managing director of this body, the proposal is at an early stage and will take months to finalise.
The idea behind the proposed joint venture is to "raise the profile of design products" that have been marketed by Gomark's local outfit since the beginning of 1996, according to Lisa Webb, head of Gomark's multimedia division. The company's Indian outfit, Gomark India Private, is mainly engaged in marketing of design products for Cad, multimedia, graphics, video, education and other spheres.
