Lucent and Unisys have joined forces to tackle the growing speech recognition market.
Initially the two firms will combine their products - Lucent's text-to-speech kit and automatic speech recognition tool, and Unisys' natural language speech assistant.
Natural language speech systems replace touchtone dial systems for applications such as phone banking, using keywords and spoken phrases.
The two companies will target specialist resellers with their products.
