Intel and Excite have signed a multi year agreement to jointly develop a new ecommerce service for the Excite portal in an attempt to simplify buying and selling over the Internet.
The aim is to create an information service that enables consumers to conduct a personalised Web search to find the product or service they need.
The first version of the Excite Shopping Service is due to be launched later this year and will be available via the Excite Shopping Channel.
Intel will contribute software and services from its newly acquired iCat unit, while Excite will provide its personalisation and ecommerce software and direct marketing skills from its Matchlogic division.
