Iona Technologies will launch version 3.0 of its OrbixWeb object request broker, which has been rewritten from C into Java. The software supplier is positioning the product as suitable for use with server-based Java applications and claims that users can build such packages using standard tools such as Symantec's Visual Cafe Pro and Microsoft's Visual J++. OrbixWeb 3.0 is scheduled to ship next month, costing $799 per developer.
