Dell is adding two new services for small businesses to its Web site.
A service called 'Virtual Account Executive' will combine streaming video over the Internet with a live salesperson on the phone, to give customers a customised sales presentation.
Customers will first contact Dell to set up an appointment. A Dell sales person at the company?s Round Rock, Texas headquarters, will then call up and walk the customer through product briefings, demonstrations and even a virtual factory tour.
Dell is also creating a series of free online seminars, 'Breakfast With Dell'. The seminars will feature presentations by industry experts on various technology issues, followed by online Q&A sessions.
Dell said the first of the seminars, held last week, was attended by 2,000 businesses.
The new services will initially be offered to US customers only. European businesses will be able to follow the online seminars, though attending them in real time will probably be difficult - they will generally start at 10:00 or 10:30 Central Time.
Last March, Dell introduced Premier Pages SM (for Small Business). This service gives small businesses a customised Web page on Dell?s site to track their purchases. Dell said 1,200 customers are currently using the service.
