Microtek has added a new model to its scanner range. The ScanMaker 330 is a 30-bit colour A4 flatbed scanner. With a price tag of #150, the machine is intended for small office and branch office use. The scanner boasts an optical resolution of 300 x 600dpi, with a maximum resolution of 4800 x 4800dpi. while 30-bit colour depth gives a range of 1.07 billion possible colours. A software bundle completes the package, including Kai's Photo Soap, Xerox's TextBridge OCR software, PhotoImpact imaging software from Ulead, Documagix PaperMaster document management software and Microtek's own ScanWizard. Microtek has updated the scanning software on the model to enhance colour calibration and ease of use. The company is targeting the product at users who want to experiment with image editing.
