Nortel is recruiting global system integrators to sell kit from the combined Nortel and Bay Networks portfolio. The first partner to sign up is Unisys.
The networking giant wants to sign up between 20 and 30 worldwide system integrators by the end of the year. In return for a set revenue commitment and proof of global sales and support capabilities, Nortel will offer the partners access to the voice, data and IP products from the combined Nortel and Bay Networks kit bag.
Nortel will also bring this programme down to country specific enterprise solutions and network solutions partners in the future, explained Amanda Giddins, Nortel's business marketing manager.
The programme is the first attempt for the combined networking force to attract joint partners. According to figures from IDC, the system integration and network consulting market worldwide will grow to $23.2 billion by 2002.
