Microsoft is to announce a developer’s preview version of “Millennium” Windows, a version designed specifically for consumers, according to sources close to the company.
Millennium Windows is expected to be an interim version to Windows 2000, with specific emphasis on ease of use. It will follow Windows 98 second edition.
“We can confirm that an announcement will be made by Microsoft later today," a spokesperson for the software giant told VNU Newswire.
Millennium Windows will be the last version of the operating system to be built on the 9x kernel, used in Windows 95 and 98.
