Esprit Telecom has secured a loan facility from Nortel Networks to finance the purchase of high-performance equipment for its European telecomms network.
The telco is creating a 9,000 kilometre high-capacity network that will connect 614 major European cities and will open for business six months early, in mid 1999.
It will use the loan to fund the purchase of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology.
The unspecified loan will be paid back starting 31 December 2000, and for the following two years.
