Cisco has rolled out another wave of equipment that spans its high-performance switching lines and remote access equipment. Cisco said the new Gigabit-speed Ethernet equipment is based on technology from Granite Systems, acquired in 1996. The two new additions are to the Catalyst family of intelligent switches that are being targeted at the wiring closet: the Catalyst 4000 and the Catalyst 2948G that use the same software as the Catalyst 5500 Series. www.cisco.com.
