Microsoft plans to include 3Com's Remote operating system (OS) Installation application with every copy of Windows 2000 when it ships on 17 February.
George Kostiuk, director of engineering for 3Com's business connectivity group, said: "3Com Remote OS Installation technology helps make the installation a systematic and simpler way to roll out Windows 2000 over a network."
Administrators use a graphical tool in the Remote OS Installation Server to install client versions of Windows 2000 on a range of PCs and workstations. The offering recognises the network interface cards supported by the desktop system and invokes a standard remote boot procedure.
