Novell has slashed discounts available to distributors by 10 per cent, down to only 30 per cent.
Murray Treece, Novell UK channel director, said: "The rest of the industry sells at 30 per cent and we've been selling at 40 per cent. There will be a net small increase for end users but users are most concerned with cost of ownership rather than the purchase price."
He expects distributors will adjust their margins on the news.
"We have not changed our standard price list for the last five to six years so this is a small change," he added.
