The findings - based on a survey of 249 finance directors for this week's Accountancy Age Big Question, conducted by Reed Accountancy Personnel - suggest an increasing number of companies are looking to the Web to gain vital business information. FDs said the advantages of looking on the Internet included its ability to provide breaking news and act as a vital tool in information gathering. 'The other sources are paper based or TV's teletext. The paper products are approximately 24 hours old by the time I can access them from a newspaper. We have no TV to look at teletext so the best way to get business information - such as prices - is through the Net,' said Paresh Samat, finance director of SBJ Employment and Safety Services. Most FDs only expect the Web to become more useful in the future. 'We didn't use it, we do now and we will use it more in the future,' said Kevin Tomlinson, financial director at plastics manufacturer Signam. Just 21% said they did not rely on the Internet for access to information.
