Unisys has teamed up with Hewlett-Packard to resell the latter's PCs and laptops.
Unisys itself used to manufacture PCs, but finally got out of that market last year in order to concentrate on services.
The company has decided to resell HP kit at the low end because at present it only offers high-end products, but is finding that more and more customers want to buy all their equipment from a single vendor.
Both Unisys and Dell claimed that the deal with HP will have no effect on their relationship, by which Unisys provides service and support to Dell's corporate customers.
"To maximise its take, Unisys has to bid for everything (in a customer contract)," explained Robin Bloor, CEO of Bloor Research. "By managing the whole project, it gets to throw in other kit."
