Umax Data Systems is to make Intel-based network computers running software licensed from Oracle. Umax, a subsidiary of Umax Technologies - better known for its Mac clone business - has licensed client software from Oracle's Network Computer (NCI) unit. The products will be launched in Europe in November and in the US next year. They will run on a 200MHz Pentium with built-in Ethernet, graphics and sound cards and smartcard reader.
