Telefonica and Unisource are to sever their ties formally in the next two weeks. Last month Telefonica left the Unisource alliance to join BT and MCI?s Concert operation.
It is understood that the ?divorce settlement? involves Telefonica returning the 25 per cent stake it owns in Unisource, and offering a compensatory cash payment to the Unisource partners. They include the national carriers of the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. Unisource will also return TTD, a data transmission operation, to Telefonica.
