Leading portal sites Yahoo and Lycos are both facing lawsuits this week.
Yahoo is being sued by an Illinois based online stock brokerage that alleges its co-branded finance site was neglected by Yahoo.
Web Street Securities claims the site was full of data errors and that, despite numerous requests, Yahoo did nothing to fix the faults. This led to Web Street receiving complaints from angry investors and partners.
Rival portal Lycos is being sued by Labrador Software, which claims the Internet company?s advertising campaign, featuring a Labrador retriever dog, is an infringement on its copyright.
Boston?s Labrador Software, which sells the aptly named E-Retriever software, uses a silhouette of the breed as its logo.
Both Yahoo and Lycos say the claims are without merit.
