Motorola is topping up its investment into Internet content company, Omniview, in the hope of boosting demand for its own multimedia hardware.
Omniview, a developer of advanced photography technology, is one of five multimedia content companies in which Motorola has purchased stakes. The company hopes to sell in volume modems that turn television cable networks into data-transfer systems a hundred times faster than current home modems.
James Philips, general manager of Motorola?s Multimedia Division, said that the additional sum will be ?millions and millions of dollars", although the official amount was not disclosed.
