Netscape was under pressure to fix a serious security hole in its Navigator browser just before Communicator 4.5 goes on beta release. A group of programmers at Princeton University found the flaw last week which lets a Java applet disable the browser?s security controls leaving the user?s computer defenceless against attacks over the Internet. Netscape said the bug, which effects only versions 4.0x of Navigator, is now fixed.
