The operator said that the deal is designed to expand its managed service offerings for enterprise and government customers.
Integrating Totality will allow MCI to offer more flexible hosting options ranging from co-location and enterprise hosting services to outsourcing of application management services, the company said.
"As more businesses and governments transition to IP, they are looking for higher-value services that help them better manage their IP infrastructure," said Jonathan Crane, MCI executive vice president and chief strategy officer.
"This acquisition enables MCI to provide more fully integrated solutions from the networking to the application layer with the performance and reliability customers have come to expect from MCI."
