Natural MicroSystems and Bay Networks are teaming up on IP telephony. Bay is working to integrate Natural MicroSystems' Fusion technology with its Voice Gateway 4000. Fusion provides hardware processing to offload the Voice Gateway's processors while also adding encoding and compression of voice. Bay's Voice Gateway takes the voice from the Fusion processor and transmits it over the IP network. Software service modules, priced between #3,000 and #10,000, include an Event Manager, which enables managers to store detailed call records and billing files, and a Gateway Routing Manager, which gives users control over routed calls based on source or other factors. The work will be completed by the end of the year. Bay www.baynetworks.com.
