A UK company has tested computer mass fax technology by sending 1.2 million questionnaires around the UK, asking whether citizens want to stay in or get out of the European Union.
According to Gordon Ritchie, chief executive of Fax Polling Associates, the faxes were sent using 60 Gammafax lines designed by Connaught Factsline.
He said: ?One day it may be possible to conduct a similar poll via the Internet but with less than five per cent of people having access, it is not yet a viable method of collecting a large amount of unbiased data.
The company received 70,000 replies to its mass faxing exercise and the results will be published in Sunday titles.
