Commenting on the results Customs and Excise Chairman Valerie Strachan said:'I am very pleased that we achieved or bettered almost 90% of our targets.
'Total net tax receipts were up by 1.1% in real terms over the previous financial year; much of this is due to the strength of the economy, reflected in higher consumer spending and an increased VAT take.'
