The tax authorities in Japan have accused Sharp of not declaring ¥800m (£3.8m) in income.
Sharp allegedly failed to disclose the earnings over a three-year period, and is accused of "hiding" ¥600m.
The electronics firm described the discrepancy as a "mistake", and claimed that the Osaka tax authority had failed to understand its views.
Sharp has been ordered to pay ¥300m in taxes.
