National Semiconductor?s Cyrix subsidiary and IBM Microelectronics are to cut off their long standing manufacturing and licensing relationship next month, according to sources.
Under the widely forecast move, National Semiconductor will take over Cyrix manufacturing from IBM. In addition, IBM is to stop making its branded Cyrix 6x86MX chip, claim sources.
?Nothing has been signed so we are not making any comment at the moment,? a spokesman for IBM told 'Newswire'.
It is thought that National Semiconductor is keen to rapidly ramp up production of its Cyrix chips and merge its processing and chip design teams.
