The price of calls to the US is set to plummet after the US telephone regulator agreed on Wednesday to axe the tariffs that have kept call charges 50 per cent above cost.
However, the Federal Communications' Commission's ruling applies only to those countries, like the UK, that have opened their countries to foreign competition.
