A Malaysian newspaper has reported that Oracle has shed more jobs in Asia.
'The Star' said on Saturday that Oracle had axed staff in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Oracle's south Asia managing director, Loke Soon Choo, confirmed that the cuts had occurred but refused to specify how many jobs were involved. He said that Oracle had taken the action because of economic trends in the countries involved.
The software giant turned in unexpectedly good worldwide results last month, with profits rising, bucking the trend in that corner of the software market.
