Scottish town-hall finance directors have published their own set of performance indicators for finance departments. The indicators, produced by the Scottish CIPFA Directors of Finance Section in response to the government's best-value initiative, number almost 60. They include measures for the number of qualifications on the closure of accounts, the percentage of key financial returns completed within a prescribed timetable, and the cost of closing the accounts.
