Telephone users in the UK can track the performance of their service provider using a Web site launched this week by the government's telecomms watchdog.
Comparable performance ratings of many UK telcos have been available in Oftel's 'Comparable Performance Indicators' report for a number of years, but this is the first time the six-monthly report has been available online.
Seventeen fixed line operators, including BT and Cable & Wireless Communications, are included in the report. Latest additions include Colt Telecommunications, Eurobell, Global One, Esprit and Norweb.
Operators are compared on their ability to provide services as promised, network reliability, time taken to repair faults, speed of dealing with complaints and customer perception of billing accuracy.
