UK Internet service provider Callnet has been wholly acquired by US Internet company World Callnet in an all stock deal worth around $4.6 million.
World Callnet, which already owned 15 per cent of the UK company, said it will use the 100 per cent acquisition to launch its Mail TV product into the UK. This lets users send email via their TV sets using an infrared keyboard.
Callnet hosts around 30 free ISPs in the UK through a revenue sharing deal with Cable & Wireless.
