The complex passage of encryption legislation through the US Congress continues.
This week the bill to impose strong restrictions on the sale of software with encryption technology was approved by the House Select Intelligence Committee, on its way to a full reading by the House of Representatives.
However, at least two other bills with different rules are also steadily making their way through different parts of Congress, some being strengthened and some weakened as they pass through.
Some definite votes and firm legislation should appear some time in October.
