The mighty Intel Corporation?s next target is the car. The company will strike deals with players in the car, communications and consumer industries to create a PC in a car.
The technology will be used to customise driver displays, fixed function navigation, entertainment and emergency systems, said senior officials at the company.
Car manufacturers will be interested because it will add value to their vehicles and give the ability to link motorists to corporate information systems, the company added.
And a PC in a car is not far away, according to Intel, which said the technology already exists to convert its dream into reality. Intel has a reference platform which it is offering to hardware and software developers and will host an in-car conference on the subject next year.
