The Government has commissioned a review on Crown Copyright, the safeguard against unauthorised publication of Government documents. The review team have been asked to investigate measures necessary to bring existing legislation into line with advanced technology media.
The Government is particularly concerned about the threat of unlawful publication of Crown documents over the Internet. Online reproduction is far faster and the origin is harder to trace than with conventional publication. The review body has also been asked to investigate how, once implemented, new legislation can possibly be enforced.
