Ideal Enterprise Solutions is adding QLogic's storage area network (San) connectivity products to its storage range.
Qlogic, which wants to grow its sales in the EMEA region, said that Ideal's 3,000 reseller partners, as well as its storage experience, will help the vendor reach "untapped customers and markets".
The company, which makes storage adapters and switches to link storage products, will benefit from the distributor's wide vendor offering.
"Ideal offers complementary products which belong to our storage [vendor] partners and this simplifies the process for providing complete San solutions to resellers," said Bob Aitchinson, regional manager, EMEA, at QLogic.
Fergus Campbell, product development manager for Sans at Ideal, explained that it chose QLogic on "technical merit", and agreed that its products will complement the distributor's existing storage vendor partners.
But he added that QLogic producing adapters and switches was a "key reason why Ideal got into bed with Qlogic".
"There is a level of confidence to a customer when the San infrastructure is manufactured by one vendor," he explained.
Qlogic's switches and adapters power San products from storage vendors such as Cisco, Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Hewlett Packard, IBM and Sun Microsystems.
Campbell stressed that it is vital that storage vendors get their products to work together. "There is currently a lot of work being done by San manufacturers to get interoperability right," he said.
For more customer and reseller "peace of mind" Ideal will have access to QLogic's Demo Pool try-before-you-buy resource.
