Oracle's Network Computer (NCI) unit has licensed Intel's Intercast broadcasting technology to include in its NCs.
The aim is to enable NC users to access information from broadcasters such as CNN, MTV Networks and NBC, which also support the Intercast initiative. NCI also plans to work with Intel and a range of content providers to develop an open digital broadcast specification, defining a common set of protocols for the transmission of multimedia content and services over cable, satellite and analogue and digital broadcast video systems.
