Hub and router giant Cisco has signed accords with Interlink Computer Sciences and Open Connect to produce a deal that will extend its range into the mainframe and midrange worlds.
Money is involved. The mighty Cisco, the biggest player in the market, will pay nine per cent for Interlink?s outstanding shares, which on current valuation are worth $7 million. Cisco also bought licences for Interlink?s TMP Access product for an undisclosed sum.
The deal with Open Connect will give Cisco access to IBM?s S/390 mainframe systems.
