Camintonn, a third party supplier of memory for Compaq's Alpha servers and workstations said it has become the first independent manufacturer to win a maintenance agreement from the Texas giant.
Under the terms of a three year deal, Compaq will provide maintenance services for Camintonn's memory products on systems covered by the Compaq service agreement.
Bosco Sun, president of Camintonn said at this week's Decus US conference in San Diego that the company was the only one of two third party memory suppliers to have this arrangement with Compaq.
Camintonn sells products that rival Compaq's own memory add ons for the Alpha range and claims to sell them at up to half the price of Compaq.
