Intel is designing a pared down design specification for Pentium PCs, which should see low-end computer prices fall.
Intel OEMs will be able to cut costs by reducing upgrade options. The new design spec will enable customers to add components through a Universal Serial Bus Connector.
Intel said it is in the middle of the design process and it is not ready to publish the new reference platform.
It is expected to introduce the spec at a pre-announcement this coming Monday, at PC Expo.
