Hewlett-Packard recently demonstrated support for the Wireless Application Protocol in its OpenMail messaging server at the WAP Forum in San Francisco with new technology, code-named Wombat. Wombat lets OpenMail users access their messages from WAP 1.1-enabled wireless devices such as Nokia 7110 and Ericsson R380 telephones. Today OpenMail can be accessed from any Internet Messaging Access Protocol 4-compliant client or a Web browser.
Wombat will be delivered this year, and pricing will be per mailbox. Pricing for Open Mail is around $60 (£38) per mailbox.
