Luminate has added new freeware to its Web site to help SAP R/3 operators get a better handle on application response time issues. The TimePiece software can help answer questions such as "Is it a network or an R/3 problem?" and "Who's affected by the problem?" TimePiece identifies the best person to help solve the problem, then gathers network packet statistics and displays the data on a Web-based front end. It also provides response time information by hour, by user or by R/3 application server and allows network managers to view traffic patterns by network segment. Helpdesk operators can verify and route end-user response time problems. TimePiece does not provide availability analysis and reporting. It can be downloaded at no cost from www.luminate.com.
