The EC has finally given its conditional blessing to MCI's revised plan to divest its Internet business. The US telco originally decided to sell its Internet backbone business to Cable & Wireless but wanted to keep corporate customers. European regulators said this was not sufficient so MCI agreed to give up its customer base and sell off its intranet business.
