Intel will introduce the Katmai, a Pentium Pro chip incorporating MMX2, in February next year, according to a source at one of its OEMs. The processor will be unlike the Pentium II, in that it will slot into a motherboard using the normal sort of socket. Cyrix said at Cebit last week that it will write MMX2 extensions, if required.
