Yahoo said its proposed acquisition of Geocities might yet fall through in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
The Internet portal company said that if it is not allowed to account for the acquisition on a ?pooling of interests? basis, it may decide to halt the deal.
The ?pooling of interests? method of accounting means that companies swap shares instead of one party having to pay cash for the deal, which provides it with tax breaks.
