Adaptec will lay off between 200 and 250 workers this financial quarter, representing some 7% of its total workforce. As a result, the company will take a charge of between $8 million (#4.8 million) and $12 million (#7.1 million) for restructuring. Its fourth quarter earnings are expected in the next few weeks. The company is blaming the cuts on tight trading conditions in the PC market.
