A press release scheduled the announcement for 3:05 PM Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday, after the close of the stock markets.
Microsoft chief operating officer Kevin Turner will make the announcement with Ann Livermore, the executive vice president of HP's technology services group. HP senior vice president and general manager of HP Services John McCain, and Microsoft's vice president of enterprise partners Peter Boit also are scheduled to attend.
The two tech giants have had a long-standing alliance, particularly in regards to enterprise products.
Microsoft's web site includes a page about the "frontline partnership" program that touts the benefits of HP systems that run Microsoft's enterprise software.
When Microsoft released Windows Vista and Office 2007 to businesses on November 30th, HP declared themselves "a close partner working hand-in-hand with Microsoft to develop and test these products."
