Digital music devices for playing music downloaded from the Internet came in all sizes, shapes and colours at Comdex this year.
Although such gadgets are barely 12 months old, there is little doubt that they have captured the imaginations of consumers. And if the raft of products on show in Las Vegas was anything to go by, a boom is on the way.

Pine Technology from Hong Kong debuted its D-music series in transparent hues of blue, green and pink. The players, which sport a 'Mac' style look that Pine is hoping will attract consumers, can store an hour of music and will cost $249 when they go on sale in December.
Creative Labs is also developing its Nomad 2 digital player for release next year. The unit will include a backlit screen, which will display the title and track of the song being played, together with information about the artist.
One of the most interesting devices was the MP Wow one ounce wristwatch size gadget from C-One Tech. It can store four of the user's favourite tracks and be purchased over the Internet for $169.
C-One also plans to launch the 'Butterfly' in Spring 2000, which converts digital audio into magnetic tape. The sides fold up to the shape and size of a cassette so consumers can play it in their regular cassette players.
